The UnderGarden- Review

For the last few days I have been playing (and highly addicted to) a beautiful Xbox Live Arcade game by the name of ‘The UnderGarden’. I’m not sure if you watched the trailer that I posted a few days ago, but I was taken by the trailer alone.

There is something extremely charming about this game, actually, there are many things in this game that stand out.

You take control of an adorable little creature who floats around in an underground world pollinating flora almost wherever he goes.

Isn't he adorable? I want a plushie of him.

The world starts off dark and quiet, but as you obtain pollen and glide along the walls bright, vibrant, flowers will bloom. Being that this is a physics based puzzle game, you’ll need certain plants in the area that contain fruits to help you progress through each level.  You’ll come across heavy fruits that you’ll use to weigh a lever down, ones that float for ceiling based levers, explosive fruits to get through blocked areas, fruits are pretty much the most important item you’ll come across in the UnderGarden.

At the start of each level you’ll notice that it’s rather quiet, that’s where the musicians come in. The musicians are tiny creatures spread out around each area, the more you collect and bring with you the louder the music will become. Collect all musicians in a level to experience the full effect of sound and cuteness.

The UnderGarden is probably the most relaxing game that I’ve ever played. The combination of colors, gathering musicians for sound, and puzzles make it so easy to get lost in this underground world. Also, you don’t have to worry about dying because you cannot die, which is a nice change of pace. You can sit back, explore the world to find the hidden flowers and areas without having to worry about getting killed and having to start over.

The UnderGarden contains 14 eye candy levels, each filled with puzzles, hidden items, adorable musician creatures, and it also supports local co-operative play.

It runs for $9.99 and is available right now on Xbox live and PC.

I highly recommend checking it out if you enjoy pretty things and/or puzzle games because The UnderGarden puts me in a good mood every time I play.
